Connect an AI assistant to Hong Kong data with MCP
Use the mcp.hk Streamable HTTP endpoint to discover Hong Kong datasets and request source-linked records from an MCP client.
Use the public endpoint
The remote MCP endpoint is https://mcp.hk/mcp. Public data access is read-only and requires no mcp.hk API key. Set a startup timeout of 120 seconds where supported because the data container may need to start. Your AI client or model provider may have its own charges.

Ask for discovery, records and citations
Try: “Find Hong Kong public holiday data, inspect the available sources and show the supported records with original source links.” Ask the assistant to report access limitations, source dates and warnings. Do not infer that all catalogue resources are queryable.
Use HTTP when your client does not support MCP
The same service exposes an HTTP API and OpenAPI description. Use the connection page and API reference for current request contracts. Never paste operator credentials into an AI connection; public reads do not need them.
